Deb Scannell
Based in Asheville, commercial photographer Deborah Scannell specializes in architectural and interiors photography, alongside landscape, nature, video production, and drone photography across Western North Carolina.
Before becoming a photographer, Deborah spent over two decades as an ASID and NCIDQ-credentialed interior designer, specializing in luxury kitchen and bath design. Working across South Florida and the Carolina mountains, she developed a refined understanding of architecture, interiors, and spatial design—foundations that continue to shape her photographic perspective today.
For Deb Scannell, photography is the art of revealing what light can say. Through refined composition and a thoughtful command of shadow, atmosphere, and timing, she creates imagery that is both visually striking and emotionally resonant.
Following her formal training at the Photography Institute, Deborah built her career around a deep appreciation for architecture, interiors, and the natural world. Specializing in architectural and interiors photography in Asheville and throughout Western North Carolina, she collaborates with leading builders, architects, and designers to create polished, compelling imagery for editorial, print, and digital presentation. Her work has been featured in numerous local, regional, and national publications, and she is trusted by clients seeking elevated Asheville architectural photography, interior design photography, and luxury visual storytelling for distinctive homes and spaces.
Beyond her architectural work, Deborah is also recognized as a leading Western North Carolina landscape photographer, known for capturing the beauty of the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Great Smoky Mountains, and the surrounding mountain landscapes with a signature depth and quiet drama. Her fine art photography reflects a profound connection to place, revealing the timeless beauty and emotion found in the natural world.
Believing that light and shadow are equally essential to every image, Deborah approaches each project with an artist’s eye and meticulous attention to detail. Whether photographing a thoughtfully designed luxury residence or a fleeting moment in nature, her purpose remains the same: to create imagery that not only captures what is seen, but leaves a lasting impression through what is felt.
